It seems to me that you can't choose just one game, you have to go by genre.

For example:
FPS - Call of Duty
RPG - Final Fantasy VII
RTS - Age Of Empires
Sports - Madden (football)

I have fond memories of playing Pokemon on my Game Boy Colour, Red and Blue, and later Silver, Gold and Crystal; I can still remember over a hundred of those Pokemon off of the top of my head and it will be with me always.
