Very heavy! Porridge and lemon/ginger herbal tea for me.
Yes, in America, we call it oatmeal, but yes, a nearly perfect breakfast food.

Eggs + avocado on sweet potato bread or unrefined porridge. Washed down with rooibos tea (if I'm fresh) or earl grey (if I'm tired).
This sounds delightful, but we have coffee, always coffee, rarely tea.

I've never understood the British penchant for beans for breakfast.
More beans, less fungus. That's just a vote.

Me neither, and I used live there.

Coffee gives me the jitters. Big time. I had to stop a haircut recently because I couldn't stop shaking after the hairdresser offered me a coffee. Also, if I have it after midday I won't sleep a wink, so I find earl grey to be a less risky pick me up.

Don't get me wrong, I get people have their choices. I like Earl Grey, it makes me feel better if I'm ailing. I prefer it to these weak herbal teas that seem all the rage now.

It's just that coffee is the standard American preference, much as tea is the standard English preference.

When I think of America I think of someone running across the street at 8:30 in New York with Starbucks coffee in red take away cups.

Caffe latte, toast, marmalade.
Its lots of variety for me though I always start with a large mug of warm water.
I may wake at 6 for a bowl of porrige with blueberries and brown sugar then
go back to bed or I may not eat until after 11 and have a huge plate with smoked
mackerel, fetta cheese, tomatoes, grapes, nuts, rye bread and coffee.

All of that sounds wonderful. Except, I've tried drinking warm water. It was just a bit too bland for me. Although, it served its purpose. 🙂

i have found inspiration on an internet forum,
as paradoxical as it may seem...

poached eggs and toast this morning, chased with black coffee...

It really isn't.

Country Benedict this morning...poached eggs on top of biscuits, gravy, diced ham and sausage with half a cup of coffee..
Since starting chemo sessions a year ago have changed from six cups of coffee to six sips.

Doubtful, there simply is no yearning (or addiction) to caffeine any more.
