After reading another thread in the forums, I thought I best spell this
out to avoid further confusion.
Nothing has changed, do not worry.
* New subscribers can have up to 10 concurrent games
* Pawn stars from donations will remain pawn stars for life. Donations
has now come to an end.
* Pawn stars with wings have subscribed to RHP. This is open to all,
new subscribers, and existing pawn stars.
Features are available to pawn stars, regardless of wings. Wings exist
just as a fun way to indicate who has joined the subscription program.
Hope that helps,
-Russ
Yes, I can understand how this is confusing too!
New users = people who have just signed up to play at RHP but are
not pawnstars.
New subscribers = people who have taken out a subscription (and will
therefore have wings)
The donations have come to an end. Subscriptions take their place. I
know this may not seem fair if you were planning to become a pawn
star by making a donation - but the transition had to happen at some
point. (Interestingly, those that have subscribed are all pawn stars
already - which really shows commitment)
In the long term it is best for the site.

Russ,
I am not degraded. I'm the 12th Pawn Star and you guys are
great. We have urged you to convert to subscriptions in order to keep
the site operational and my wish that you receive some monetary
compensation for your work and efforts. I'm temporarily unable to
subscribe. I will soon, I hope.

1st to make 50,000 moves. Sorry Andrew I got here before you. :-)

PS: Andrew got at 50k moves about a week after me. (For the record).
Two questions:
1. You said, "Donations has now come to an end." Did you
mean, "...has NOT come to an end."?
2. I'm not yet a Pawn Star, definitely not a subscriber at this point. I
think what you are doing is great. But I still think the subscribers
should get far more than wings. If there is no difference in site
benefits, there is little incentive to become a subscriber, when a one-
time donation gets the same things. What can be done on your end
to create that incentive? Perhaps a "Subscriber Package" that might
include discounts on merchandise? Or something else? Just a thought.

You can't make a one-time donation any more, that's what "Donations has now come to an
end" means. Subscribers do get privileges over users who haven't paid: I think these are
unlimited games, no splashscreens asking you to pay up, fewer adverts, and largely
unmoderated access to the forums. So there is definitely an incentive for players such as
yourself who haven't paid. As for more perks, who knows what Chris and Russ will do to
improve this site in future for their members?
'Old Pawn Stars' such as myself, however, have a special status in that we get subscriber
privileges, but don't have to pay any more than we already have. I'm afraid there is now no
way for players to join the Old Pawn Star club; it has a closed membership of a few hundred
(don't know the exact number, it's more than 250 but probably not hugely more). We are
getting these privileges in gratitude for having donated when there were no subscriptions.
I for one feel unworthy of this treatment, since I have played from some time last winter and
returned under a new nick before paying about a month ago. Instead I think it would be fair
if all the Old Pawn Stars were given one year's free subscription and then given exactly the
same status as other subscribers. If Chris and Russ want to make a Hall of Fame, and hand
out special badges and privileges, that's fine by me, but they should give them out on an
individual basis in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the site.
