My current drummer is requesting me to change my sets to include him more. I am looking for suggestions of songs to cover for a mid-grade drummer. Presently I do mostly folk/hip-hop stuff, but have been known to throw in some 80's pop hits. I also play with a dj that mixes for some of the sets.

I would think that hip-hop drumming is very simple. Am I correct?

Yes hip-hop drumming can be simplistic, but what we do is'nt straight h-h. Its more urban folk I guess is what I would call it if I had to put it in a box. Buts thats the neat part of it, it dosn't fit into a box.

Get your drummer to learn jazz, and then play progressive rock

It works.

Give me a sample set of what you currently do, and I'll suggest from there.
