Is it an art or a skill? And is it really fine?

Is an argument a little bit effective or a whole lot effective?

And furthermore I disagree because you could have said something else entirely.

Ineffective argumentation? Too much speedwork, not enough weights.

Rule of thumb #1

Try to avoid contradicting yourself.

If you find yourself arguing both for and against your own point, then it is probably best to segway into something completely unrelated. And use a lot of $50 words, erudite sounding words... this can often work to throw the hounds off the scent.

Because you spelled segue wrong, your whole argument is invalid.
