The first time my name was mentioned as a deadline in a newspaper was when I was about 13 or 14 years old and won two snooker competitions in a row. My local club played a Friday night, sat and Sunday tournament, I won the sat and sun and it read... Trevor at the double. Good times.
First time I was mentioned I was probably 11 or 12 after reaching my first final.

In 1976, Dallas chess tournament (picture). I tied for first. Numerous times (interviews) in local newspapers as chess organizer (usually misquoted). Television once, promoting 4-way chess. Radio once, interview about being a chess instructor .
(edit) And I got around an 8 page bio and interview in Jen Shahade's book, Chess B***h, Women in the Ultimate Intellectual Sport.
Originally posted by caissad4When you mentioned misquoting, it happened later, when I appeared on TV after my book was awarded, and when I spoke with the hostess before the airing, I mentioned Pynchon as an influence, and she said in live programme Pinochet instead of Pynchon.
