My name is Eric Kirk and you can see my name with Dean Mau. We were arch enemies. Until Peter Thiel came into the picture and kicked everybody's a--es. Yes, THAT Peter Thiel.

The first time my name was mentioned as a deadline in a newspaper was when I was about 13 or 14 years old and won two snooker competitions in a row. My local club played a Friday night, sat and Sunday tournament, I won the sat and sun and it read... Trevor at the double. Good times.

First time I was mentioned I was probably 11 or 12 after reaching my first final.

I appeared in the 'Births Deaths and Marriages' column of the local rag when I was a new arrival to the human race.

I was more impressed that Koltanowski visited the tournament to encourage the kids. Th chess history article by A.E. Montgomery was awesome.

Several. It's part of the job. First one, though, was when I was a toddler and there was a fierce legal battle involving truly yours.

People can be so cruel, they went to court just to see who was left with the burden of raising you? :'(

In chess column of news paper they used to publish such small new as results of category tournament. When I won II and I category, it was published. One of the first mentions. Late 1970´s.

In 1976, Dallas chess tournament (picture). I tied for first. Numerous times (interviews) in local newspapers as chess organizer (usually misquoted). Television once, promoting 4-way chess. Radio once, interview about being a chess instructor .

(edit) And I got around an 8 page bio and interview in Jen Shahade's book, Chess B***h, Women in the Ultimate Intellectual Sport.

When you mentioned misquoting, it happened later, when I appeared on TV after my book was awarded, and when I spoke with the hostess before the airing, I mentioned Pynchon as an influence, and she said in live programme Pinochet instead of Pynchon.
A guy in tehnicians´ room next to the studio threw a joke at me after the show "Send greetings to Salvador Allende!" But it was morning programme, no one watches this, it was somewhat better in another interview late night.
