the general forum IS crap these days, and i think part of the reason is that much of the intelligent conversation that used to take place here has moved to the Debates forum, which was created for that purpose. way back when, there wasn't any debates forum and debates were held here in general. but then people complained that too many debates were going on, so the new forum was created. so in a way, we have got what we wished for.
