Bradford has been a kind of meme in comic or not-so-comic quips since the demographic changes of the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. i.e. Bradford = a dump.
You really seem to have it in for Bradford. I wonder what you reasons are.

I like the place. I lived in both Lancashire and Yorkshire as a child.

@fmf said
As I have said, more than once, you probably did it unwittingly. Go with that.
Again:

Let's explore that notion. I live in the UK and have never heard Bradford referenced in a derogatory fashion, while you live in Indonesia and have heard it more times than you can remember? - Is that what you are claiming?

@fmf said
When?
As explained, towards Torunn in the 'dry drunk' exchange. Go revisit.

You said you've never been there and, I think, you said you know or knew nothing about the place. That's where you are at with Bradford. I have a different take on the way I've heard it referenced over the last 40+ years. Once again, you probably did it unwittingly. Go with that.

As I said, I disagreed with her. And I was plainspoken and forthright with her, not "passive-aggressive".

Selective memory? I told you Bradford was the setting for one of my books. You don't think I researched the area?

If you have researched Bradford, then you will be aware of what I am talking about.

I disagree. Go have another look.

That's the point. I have and I'm not.

Is that when you found out about the "Yorkshire puddings"?

Gosh.

Nothing in my research supports your claim that Bradford has become a dump.

Then we can agree to disagree. You probably DID make the humorous quip for the reason you offered, which was that you were referencing something private in your head about Greek Gods and a "paradise", and THAT was the vein of humour running through your mention of the city.

I don't think Bradford has become "a dump".
