The way I see it. Loud snoring is performed by a person in heavy/deep sleep. Someone who sleeps lighter will not be snoring loudly.
The lighter side is also alluding to the reason for killing a neighbor; Snoring loudly.
Imagine killing someone for such a light annoyance.
If people can be driven to kill others merely for being annoyed by others' snoring, just imagin ...[text shortened]... lighter side is also the humorous aspect that follows the snoring story.
