Does a zoologist “have” to work at a zoo?πŸ€”
Zoology (/zoΚŠΛˆΙ’lΙ™dΚ’i/) is the branch of biology that studies the animal kingdom, including the structure, embryology, evolution, classification, habits, and distribution of all animals, both living and extinct, and how they interact with their ecosystems. The term is derived from Ancient Greek ζαΏ·ον, zōion ('animal'πŸ˜‰, and λόγος, logos ('knowledge', 'study'πŸ˜‰. -- Wikipedia

So no.

I am old enough to remember when you stuck with people of your own race. Never got to know about different cultures and religions. Things started changing here in the mid to late 70's I would say. Appears here we are 70 years later as you said still trying to get it right.

And, in hindsight, the 50s and 60s was about a hundred years (or a multiple thereof) too late. Can you imagine the difference it would have made in America if the civil rights movement (or human rights movement) had happened in the 1750s and 60s?

Perkins regular job was a director at a large zoo. I used to love zoos, until I connected mentally with a large silverback. A zoo is an animal prison.
But bring a retired butcher, and current omnivore, I can't wave that flag without a flood of hypocrisy drowning me.
We all feed on death, one way or another. Even vegans don't wait for plants to die a natural death and eat only detritus.

So, uh, what about Mr. Ed, the talking mule? My Favourite Martian? Lost in Space? Are there sordid backstories there, too? Can't I keep anything from my childhood intact??

Before the native populations of No. and So. American and the Caribbean were exterminated and the Spanish started transporting slaves from Africa. That would have been the right time to think seriously about racism and human dignity.

I've heard conflicting stories about how they made Mr. Ed's mouth move to speak. One story had his mouth getting shocked to simulate speaking actions. The popular story is they put peanut butter on his gums.
I loved lost in space when it first aired, I was about 5 then. I later noticed the giant birdcage spaceship the visiting alien had wasn't air tight and wouldn't work in space. Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, was another favorite, then I noticed while the ship was being rocked, the crew thrown side to side, the pencils, coffee cups etc stayed in place on tables. Both Lost and Voyage were produced by Irwin Allen, who later made disaster movies and is synonymous with bad films.

As a people how civilized were we back in the 1750's? Unfortunately we haven't gotten a whole lot better than we were in many cases.

Them?

Is that like "those people"?

At least you are still calling them people, I suppose.

(What you meant to say was "Neither have they." )

I trust no aliens πŸ‘½ were harmed during the production of Lost in Space. “Oh the pain, the pain.” in the immortal words of Dr. Zachary Smith.
