I had it recommended to me by somebody I would trust, but I haven't watched it yet.

We watched it at the same time as we watched His Dark Materials, which was better.
It was enjoyable, but not really great.
Each had one episode a week and the latter was more looked forward to.

The Mandalorian is a must-see for Star Wars fans. I've seen both seasons in their entirety. I understand that it has been picked up for a Season 3 to air Jan/Feb 2022.

Seasons 1 and 2 both have 8 episodes each and, AFAIK, only available on the Disney+ streaming service. Since this is being made and released by Disney, who owns Pixel and Marvel and the Star Wars franchise, one can only assume that any new Star Wars material shown on the service is automatically canon. All 11 theatrically-released films are streamable on the service as well as the several animated series which are also now considered canon.

When you get done with The Mandalorian, I recommend starting The Clone Wars animated series, all 7 seasons (over 100 episodes), followed by the Rebels animated series. After watching The Clone Wars series, you'll understand my love for the character of Ahsoka Tano.

Rogue 1 is excellent. I sometimes thinks it's given a lesser status because it's a story within the story. Best film I've watched for a while. Definitely the best Star Wars film.

I'm a Star Wars fan, my wife less so, but we both thoroughly enjoyed the first two seasons of The Mandalorian.

It has enough in it to appease full fans, but not enough to put off those less enthralled with the series of films.

Both series have a full arch, but with an overall on going story, with a satisfying end to series 2 - in case 3 hadn't been commissioned, which pleasingly it has.

Some old location, some new but with recognisable tech.

Yep, looking forward to series 3.

Really enjoyed both series, but then love almost anything Star Wars related.
