Aside from the pseudo-folk of Mellencamp and Bruce, and the emergence of Grunge, 1980s rock is a sad reflection of the tragedy of popular music in that decade: Country (if you can call it music) and Hip-Hop, which produced some decent poetry, both proved more vital than rock.
After The Wa ...[text shortened]... loyd, and Highway to Hell, AC/DC's only decent album, rock was essentially finished.
