I hate this "fact". It's such a smug simplification. As if a chicken is anything special! A chicken is no more a dinosaur than a blue jay (currently eating peanuts off my garden table), a tinamou, a ruddy duck, or a dodo.
Also, if birds are dinosaurs, humans are fish. And for the same reason.
I didn't say a chicken was a dinosaur, and used it only as an avian example. Go back far enough and everything is related, but science finds it convenient to classify species as they appear in the evolutionary record. If you find this smug or hateful then that's your prerogative.
