Since when did the RHP forums become a place to foist your own politcal beliefs onto others. Every time I log on, someone is trying to convince me of this and demonstrating against that. Quite frankly I'm bored of it and i'm out of here

That's why there are different forums and each thread has a title.
If you don't want to read opinions on a given forum/thread, don't. Nobody forces you to.

For example, I am often unsure as to what a given thread is about due to the typically shoddy thread naming practices that abound in the forums. So I simply don't open badly named threads to find out. Did I miss anything? Who knows, but it doesn't seem to have harmed me or anyone else. And I'm sure nobody cares about this little fact either.

I do sometimes wonder what motivates people to post. If it's to express your point of view and then listen with open ears to what others have to say, tehn I understand.
If it's to show those damned liberals/carnivors /baby killers /unbelievers/commies/ Yanks/Frenchies... just how wrong they are not listen to what they have to say in return then why bother?

Basically it is what "a beautiful mind" was all about, We all compete on various levels. Winning an argument is considered a victory, even if we are not aware that we're actually competing by arguing.

In general however, I think the forums are pretty decent and in general most people seem to respect other peoples opinions, so it's not all that bad.

cheers

Hi,

I just wanted to clear up a few things since a couple of people have been asking me why I'm quitting the site. I'm not. It's just that (as I'm sure other people have also felt) in the last few weeks I've noticed how the forums have changed in nature. Now, I'm not criticising anyone for wanting to start or participate in threads in which they can discuss politics or religion (hey, I used to join in). Recently, however, the threads seem to be less about discussion and more about "This is my stance and I'm sticking to it - no matter what you say - and you're wrong for not agreeing". If people are content for this kind of discussion that is also fine by me, I was merely stating my intention to reduce my participation in this site to playing chess only. And that's my stance and I'm sticking to it - no matter what you say - and you're wrong if you disagree. 😀😀

Spoon Boy: Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Spoon Boy: There is no spoon.
Neo: There is no spoon?
Spoon Boy: Then you will see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.

Manuel - You've set a poser for yourself now.
You've started a thread so your natural instinct will be to come back and see the response to it.
But.. you stated that you ar no longer participating in the forum so you go back on your decision if you do return for a look. 😲

I wonder which path you will take. 🙂
