It's a disease. And it's called "Affluenza". π We value material things way too much. America has the highest debt to income ratio per person than any other nation (so I hear). Pretty sad. :'(

Getting dressed in clothes you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and car and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

I reckon we should start a revlolution.Dont get up and go to work anymore. If everyone stop doing it,we can all sit back and relax.RHP is a good place to start such a revolution.Eventually no one will have money for computers and everyone will be playing chess over the board.
Russ will especially like this idea since he recently decided to quit his job and spend more time improving RHP π
Jokes aside I often ask myself that question. Why?why are we doing this to ourselves when all we really need is food,a warm place to sleep and the odd beer.

Either get a job you really like so it's not a chore (may involve time at university) or just quit it and live a subsistence life - only owning what you need to survive.
They main flaw in the last plan is lack of a pension scheme π
I wasn't suggesting everyone do it. π
Seriously, I have know some decent people who work just enough for what they need. They don't scrounge just don't need much.
Then again, I've known some other people who think their occupation in life is to evade gainful employment π
An ex-friend of mine hasn't worked ever, has been on the dole for 10+ years and is more or less unemployable (which is what he wants) due to a combination of attitude, appearance and uselesness. Worse, he seems to think the world owes him a living and complains if he ever gets his benefit cut, or if they force him to go on a course π
