So we have a curve leadig to somewhere, but someone is going off a tangent. (The basic metaophor, where tthe behavious is connotated negatively)

But imagine:

There is a vicious circle, and someone is going off a tangent, couldn't that lead to something new?

If a thread's purpose is to circumnavigate a "vicious circle", so be it I say. If "going off on a tangent" is synonymous with "thread drift", I am all for it.

"Going off on a tangent" is possibly threatened by two things: 1. It being seen and treated as an opprobrium. 2. There is an alert category: "Off-Topic.

I was attacked once by a racing bike.

It was a vicious cycle.

Talking of tangerines, I once tripped over a satsuma and severely injured a toe.

True story.
