Gene,
Sorry, I hit the wrong key. I grew up in a place that was and is so
small it still does not show up on Yahoo Maps!! Your memories are
sweet to me. I used to collect the empty large Coke and Pepsi bottles
ang get 5 cents for them. With that nickle, I could get two full 8 oz
Coke or Pepsi's. Fish hooks cost 2/1 penny.

Do you remember that Hershey bars were also a nickle? And you could
buy a Klein bar for 3 cents!

Great story Gene!! I am of course not from that era...but I am one of
the "3 channel" generation...I think cable came out when I was
twelve...maybe it was already out before then but my parents were
just too cheap to get it.

Does anyone remember when "The Wizard of Oz" came on once
EVERY year? Boy I do. Man...nothing else was happening that night.
People would call my dad and ask if he wanted to go do something
and it was "Hell No!! The Wizard of Oz is on tonight!!"

Last of the REAL family sit down..have some popcorn...and feel good
being around each other for me I guess.

Since I have gotten older and seen the movie in a different light...I
have come to the revelation that Auntie Em was screwed up.

If you remember she had Ms. Gulch right there at the beginning of the
movie and could have solved the whole damn problem...but NO!! She
goes with the "Christian Woman Speech"

"If I wasn't a Christian woman I would tell you what you could do"

A GOOD Christian woman would have slapped that Satan worshipping
bicycle pedaler and taken the damn dog back.

Whoops...kinda went off on a rant there...sorry. hehehe

Our office was just talking about the Wizard of Oz. Seems many of us
were scared to death just watching that movie as youngsters. I
especially hated those dreaded flying monkeys! My wife, on the other
hand, loved every minute every time it aired. BTW do I detect a slight
unresolved spiritual issue floating to the surface? The question is:
Does Auntie Em "Let go & let God" or is she ready to restart the
Crusades for a mutt. (I really am kidding, and I really love
mutts...sometimes more than their owners.!

No spiritual issues...but you show me in the bible where Jesus took
crap off an ugly woman. When he said "Turn the other cheek" he was
talking about himself...not his dog!

One guy told me once (and it hit close to home me being an
exmormon) He said "All that stuff must be in The Book of Mormon!!
They keep trying to get me to read it...hell I ain't finished the Bible
yet! And my wife is Jewish...I can't get her to go for Jesus much
less 'Jesus..The Western' "

I of course laughed so hard I threw up.

Oh well...enough religious talk from me before I do my
occasional "Hey Dave said some bad crap let's slam him" ordeal.

OhWEEoh
OHweeOH
OhWEEoh.

How could you not love the flying monkeys????

Man I loved those flying monkeys. All I've wanted since childhood was
to learn to clone me some evil, flying monkeys. Evil flying monkeys
that would do MY bidding and MY bidding ALONE! HAHAHAHAHAHA.
Yessss.

Why, with a cloned army of evil flying monkeys, Pinky, I'm sure I
could conquer the world!

Actually, I'd settle for a prehensile tail of my very own.

Moving into Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, are we? Now that, I liked.
Of course I'm all grown up now, and only get scared by the nightly
news.
