Well I watched him say it right after with Levy interviewing him. If it’s a rule while playing and everyone else is following it, how is this good for him in doing so?
Out of Principle what does an old chess code have to do with how a man or woman can play chess??? It was done that way for years here in Local clubs just ordinary Joe's playing and everyone had to wear suits. When I went in 1993 that rule had long since expired and people would show up in sandals, shorts, and t-shirts, especially in summer, you wouldn't want to do it in our winters for sure.

I think it is a very out dated Policy that should be changed. A man or a women should feel comfortable when playing chess. I sometimes play in my underwear, of course I wouldn't do that in Public....LOL...

As Pondy said: * A world champion who announced (indirectly) not to play that tournament next year goes out with a lot of press coverage: smells of a marketing gag for the alternative event next year!

After all who ever wins now, no one will consider the true Chess Champ as he didn't play the WORLD CHESS CHAMPION!!! 🙂

Then work on changing the rules, as it stands not following them isn’t an option, agreed? Doing this makes him look like a spoiled child throwing a tantrum. Why shouldn’t he have to follow the same rules as everyone else. Can you tell me a few reasons why you might think they would care, or have any rules in the first place? As far as a marketing tool, heck if I know??

I think it makes him look like he is standing up for what he believes in. Back in the day Bobby Fisher did things his way when he became World Champion. I think the rules of the dress code are outdated as do many people. Of course you and anyone else are entitled to your opinions, as I am to mine. 🙂

That’s a silly immature way of thinking about it, I see sue said the same:-). So no answers as to why you might think they have the rules??? He also put them in a bad spot. He could have changed and came back, and he still could have came back the next day regardless. He runs late often with wrinkled clothes and on I suspect he needs to learn about alarm clocks. The only one it looks bad on is him.

So you think it is wrong for someone to stand up for what they believe, then have the nerve to it is a silly immature way of thinking about it. He is the World Chess Champion. He has nothing to prove to ANYONE, including and especially you. If you want to go there so can I. Just ask around in case you have forgotten. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Doesn't make you right or wrong. You are not the judge of all that happens or am I.

You have no clue on his reasoning or late as usual, so that’s just pretend land. There ARE rules and if he wants to play you have to follow them..... If you want rule changes do it properly if this is the case, not on game day, childish…. The organization will be and has been around long before him and after he’s done competing. Changing their rules or reasons for improperly is not something you do as a competitor, especially on game day with everyone else following the rules. Time and a place for everything.

And I suppose you think you know the reasons for everything he does???

Perhaps when you become have the player he is, which is highly unlikely anyone on this site will become that good, then you can criticize The World Chess Champion until you little Heart Desires!!!

When you are World Champion you pretty much do as you want, Bobby Fisher did. I don't hear you being critical of him. Is it because he was an American??? 🙂
You do know in the end he went a little off the deep end right??? 🙁

We are both Clueless to the pressures these World Champions are under!!~

Never said I did as you and sue are, I’m just saying he seems to never be on time or completely dressed, nothing I saw made me think otherwise. I’m not seeing this as a difference of opinion but logic, and continuity adding these other non related things that have nothing to do with the situation we’re speaking of. I have only watched a couple of games from B Fisher as I’ve never been interested in the game enough to study it or watch anything until around six months ago and I would react the same. I find it funny you think of it as me criticizing him and not just common sense.

Your statement is almost as logical as many of your games, lets not go further on that one! You have your opinion and we have our opinions. We will not change your opinion as much as you will not change ours. Why so critical because he has wrinkled clothes, are you one of those Neat Freaks? 😛 Maybe try some chess tactics to improve you chess instead of being critical of the World Chess Champion. Did you know Bobby Fisher had his little quirks and what they were??? I am very doubtful. You would have to look it up I am sure! 😉

You would be correct on my game the rest not so much😁. To be fair a little closer look will also show a lot of winning positions and won games if it weren’t for those dang blunders from moving fast🤯😁. If I felt you understood chess better than I do I might listen or be offended?😁😁 The clothes were in reference to it was more likely him being late than trying to stand up for something. I’ve watched a documentary on him, are you trying to make fun of me, it’s not working if so?

Not trying to make fun of you at all. I am just saying you might be better off working on your game than being Critical of the World Champion. IF you look it up you will find they ALL had their little quirks. What I am saying without you trying to put words that I didn't say is that your time would be spent more efficiently working on your game. What the World Champion does, doesn't really effect you in any way at the end of the day. I know my game needs much improvement and I carry to big a game load, those are things that I have to work on. I also feel I help my Clan considerably as I did my Previous Clan. I have worked hard to improve my game, I try things in tournament games which most of the time don't work, but I am always trying to improve my game. Are YOU?
Perhaps it might be a good idea for you to look at our games against each other before saying if you felt I understood chess better than you do! 🙂

I’m not critical of him I’m just saying what I’ve seen watching many of his videos. As far as rules I don’t think you have a foot to stand on as your argument is silly in this situation.

Mike, I have noticed over time, if someone doesn't agree with your idea's then they are silly or wrong. You must be always right on everything. Last one like that they crucified on the cross!

Well to be fair hardly any of these people answer anything they just add more things to the pile like you did here. The other side of that is most of the comments I respond to are simply stupid!😁
