According to some(Not all, but a large group) of christians, if you don't believe in God through chrsitianity, then you are being sent to hell.
Which to me is pretty sucky for those +- 4 billion people who don't, and those few billion who lead perfectly good upright lives without hurting others, but just don't subscribe to a set belief.
The "cruel" comment wasn't aimed at God him/herself(I think), but at the people who believe that because they are doing something one way means they will get a good place in the afterlife, and all the others will go to hell.

produced by eating the forbidden fruit. Is this wacky or what? It's amazing that this religion has survived through the ages. Burning for eternity in the Lake of Fire is pretty cruel, and pretty nuts. Parents could never that savage to their children without being arrested, but we are supposed to believe that God is that mentally ill. Christianity should go the way of the Dodo bird.

on a happier note, i'm told that dying of oxygen deprivation is positively nice. my doctor told me this, having taken part in a medical experiment when he was a student in the 1960s (i think he may have been trying to give me a hint!)
