two years ago i bought a washing machine
you know, like for clothes?
got it all set up and level and then i was prompted by a disembodied computer voice to connect the machine to the internet via wifi
the machine tells me regularly that i'm using to much laundry soap
that i'm folding the sweatpants all ...[text shortened]... ong
that t shirts should be folded not hung
and it's time to take the trash to the curb

dammit
Your washing machine sounds a lot like my second wife.

A female connection? Most of the technical progress that runs our lives is made by men - and look at the state we're in. 😞 πŸ™‚

Throw the instructions away of course. πŸ˜‰

If I fail there is always someone who knows how to do it!!

You had to go online to find out how to operate her ???

I am assuming a 15 year old would be better around most things than you or I moonbus. πŸ˜›

Yes, the tech gets ever more complicated, so it is good to have a 15 yr old in reserve. A daughter, granddaughter, or neighbor serves nicely.

I can tell you this much most of my nieces and nephews know their way around a computer much better than myself and cell phone too. I have been shown things I didn't even know existed on my Cell phone for example. All teenagers!!! Of course they grew up with them. Where I grew up with a black and white T.V. and the old Crank phone and the part line. Most born after a certain time never even heard of such things.

The advantage of being this age is that we are not expected to know much about these things. πŸ™‚ And that saves me a lot of trouble.

Age does have it's advantages, but the older we get the less they are it seems. πŸ™‚

When I first learned computer programming, Basic, COBOL, and Fortran were coded on punch cards. Now, I get my daughter, aged 20, to show me all the new features whenever my iPhone updates itself.

It all depends how your life has been earlier... πŸ™‚ No more practical responsibilities for five dear grandchildren (all grown up) and my sweet great-granddaughter it opens possibilities, and I can always refer to old age when I feel like it.

Indeed. She was a newer model and as it turned out, very complicated, so I “returned” her for a “used” one.
