There is no shame in resignation...

I have noticed that on many of the games that I am winning in, the
oppenet stops playing and I have to claim a move-timeout win. Is
there a difference in the amount of points won or is it that the
opponent suddenly forgets to play... Moreover, who can tell me an
exact formula on which the rating system works...

a loss is a loss is a loss. The ratings are the same either way. Just
some people have trouble stepping up to the plate. You can click on
Help and there is a formula that will give you how the ratings are
calculated.
I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow but I'd be happy to play you when I
get back. I won't "suddenly" forget our game if I fall behind.
