taking stupidly unnecessary risks at its best. those guys are sooo gonna make a big red splat one day. apparently one of them already did?
once saw a guy scoop a bit of snow in a wing suit. but he didn't do it like an idiot, there was nothing he could've crashed into head first. the worst would've been a very low angle contact on the snow, much like on skis.

HAVE YOU?
Originally posted by Phlabibitwingsuit is much slower, just a bit faster than downhill. and at that speed I have crashed on skis. it's not that bad unless you hit your head. in powder it would be a picnic.

HAVE YOU?
well, maybe not, as you fly head first. the first time your head touched the snow, while your body wasn't spinning yet, it might snap your backbone or something. still, I'd prefer that to hitting a rock.

Really? I'm impressed! You were only 20mph off the World Record for the speed achieved on skis and that guy had to use thousands of pounds worth of equipment to get over the 120mph mark.
Somehow Wormwood goes faster than that and also crashed into a picnic.
Perhaps the picnic baskets broke his fall?

HOW DID YOU CRASH AT 100 MPH?
(grew up in a small town with a ski resort. started with skis at around 8-9 years old. come teenage, a lot of tomfoolery was done on skis & snowboards. like jumping off a ski jumping hill with both. during summer too.)
Originally posted by wormwoodI tried barefoot skiing, after having done water skiing, knee boardking, wake boarding, and tubing.

I hit my FACE at 45 or so MPH, folding my eyelids backwards and forcing water into my ears through my nostrils.
Fun stuff.
Originally posted by Phlabibitnever done any water skiing, although there was quite active water skiing scene in the town. in winter we we're all on skis, in summer there were two groups, the skaters and the water skiers. I was a skater.

I hear water is quite hard to hit your face into, especially at barefoot speeds. I once dove into a pool from around 5m, flat on my face. that hurt like hell, and it's nowhere near the water skiing speeds...

Raced motorcycles until mom made us sell them.
BMX
Surfed, but there were no waves.
I skated, built a nice ramp. Took lumps.
Father purchased a boat, did the water stuff.
Some years later at age 26 went skate boarding again with a friend. Landed on hip, and decided Mountain Biking might be fun.
Got a guitar and played some chess.
