Arrogant/immature people are never quite treated the way they want to be treated or loved in the precise way (or as much) as they want to be loved. These unfortunate souls often turn to gross excesses (including anti-social behaviour, even criminality, driven by jealousy and hatred) for stimulation in lieu of happiness. Illness in some instances may also cause misery.
