There was a documentry on the etlly the other night of how the Brits went to India and not fully understanding the monsoon season tried to make giant square wells to collect the water for later, which worked auiet well but they worried it might spread disease and they closed them down, make lots of lakes instead but ithey spread colora. The wells are just recently gettign reopened, but the lakes stayed. Isn't it nice how we (the Brits) go all over the place improving things 😉

Are you talking about the stepwells? I thought they predated the Brits (who did close them)...

Yes, that's the well. You're right, they're older then I thought. Aparently fairies lived in them. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stepwell). Forget my earlier post, it dosen't make so much sense now!

It's still a fascinating story that exemplifies how the rush to modernize sometimes has very negative unforeseen consequences.

That's a pretty visual effect made by those steps.

Seams there's a lot of that going on, people busily trying to improve things without fully understanding the problem- if there is one.

Indeed- and one mans junk is another mans treasure. What I mean is what someone may think needs fixing another may well think is just fine. Some people just have to medel with everything, give their opnion and try to change things to the better.
But you know what, we'll have a lovelly royal wedding, right before ellection, and all will be well again.

I remember the last Royal Wedding. Almost brings a tear to my eye!

Perhaps this one will have a much better ending.

that's true. that was pretty tradgic. and she seams to have the same demenia as his mum had- not that that means she'll put up with the same stuff mind you. can't say I really care what they get up to myself though- just another celeb wedding, nothing to do with the rest of us. maybe it's just the mood I'm in this evening.
