OK, that's kind of creepy.

I don't know how that works, but that freaked me out.

It worked when I didn't look at the number.

I made sure that I didn't use my mouse to find the number.

It even worked when I consciously didn't do the math in my head.

cuz your answer will always be a number from the 9 tables

9
18
27
36
45
54
63
72
81

Notice these all have the same symbol next time you play. They change the symbol each turn to make it 'sneaky'

I just figured that out.

Still, it was pretty cool while it lasted.

It doesn't know. Every number that is divisible by 9 has the same symbol.

Every 2 digit number minus its quer sum (that its called in Germany) equals one of the numbers indicated by the preposter. mathematic mind trick :-)

Let first digit of your number be y
Let second digit be z

Then your number can be written as 10y + z
And adding the two digits gives y + z
And subtracting above from original number gives 10y + z - (y + z)
Which gives 10y + z - y - z
Which gives 10y - y

Or 9y

In other words, the result will be a multiple of nine. Figure out the rest for yourself.
