And whats with this bonus points business?
    Madness!
I like it, means a 70 point last game win against Italy cant impact the standings with points difference. It promotes an attacking game like what we saw today, Ireland went for the 4 tries when before would have just taken an easy 3 points from their pens.

Winning away is never easy in the six nations in the last couple of years unless it's Italy. Look at this year, only Ireland's win against France, England will be hurt for sure after Scotland and France defeats but they're not the same team as the last couple of years so we have a good chance.

    .
If they want more tries change the game points.
    Reduce penalties to 2 points.

Scoring 4 tries, losing by less than 7 points ... it's all a bit arbitrary.

If you reduce penalties, it means teams will cynically be more willing to give them away, hence stop tries.

Its the same argument as to 'promote' tries, award more points. Again, teams will accept penalties to stop them.

    Not easy!

Playing with 14 men is a big disincentive!

Ah, every penalty becomes a yellow card! Interesting!

You can't sinbin a player for every penalty.

That can't be a serious idea?

7 or 8 yellow cards per game per side? Would turn the game into a farce. (And make refs LESS likely to award penalties)

I am not against after, say, 3 penalties in say 15 mins against one side, a rule being that the next is yellow card. But again, refs will be under pressure not to give the final penalty!

    Just thinking out loud.
The game definitely doesn't need more penalties!
Nobody likes the disruption to the game and nobody likes games won by penalty kicks.
    So what to do?

Maybe a distance fine and a tap penalty??
