Yes, I was there. Well, not right at the wall, but in Berlin (West). When I heard it on the news, I first couldn't believe it was true. It felt unreal. I had been living in Berlin all my life, and the wall had always been there. We didn't rush to the border to be among the first to cross without having to get a permit, show your passport and be searched, but we went some days later, just to see if it really worked and enjoy the feeling. I also celebrated New Year's Eve that year at the Brandenburg Gate. I don't like crowds, and when there are fireworks involved, it can get quite scary, but it was still quite exciting, and the celebration stayed peaceful.
Just for your information, the person above me is dead, so that was a ghost post. By the way, ghost posts don't affect the life status of a thread. So if there's a ghost post in a dead thread, it will still be dead. And if the last post before a thread dies is a ghost post, it's the person before the ghost who has killed the thread.
