I read that we have five asteroids headed our way.

People tend to look for patterns in life and three is the smallest number needed to create a pattern. Bad things also happen in twos and fours, of course, but the relationships aren't always as noticeable.
My daughter often says that good and bad things happen in threes. Either she is right occasionally, or we stopped counting after three. 🙂

Think about it, if someone dies that is close you can count on two more dying also within a short time.
