PS The last time it happened, 1975, the Cubs were on the zero end of the score
The dismal final is in. The Royals beat the Tigers by a record score of 26-5. The Royals got 26 hits and 8 walks and scored in every inning except the 5th and the 7th. The Tigers used 5 pitchers, all of whom gave up two runs or more. Lino Urdaneta, in his first game since being called up by the Tigers faced 6 batters in the 3rd inning. They all reached base and eventually scored. He has an earned run average of infinity. The Royals could have scored at least 3 more runs, but in a show of mercy their baserunners were advancing one base at a time.
The only positive note from the game was that the Tigers outhomered the Royals 2-1. Craig Monroe and Rondell White went deep.
But the best part of all is that it's a doubleheader. So we potentially get to go through it all again.
