how is it disrespectful to call you a jealous puss, same as saying sour puss, and can be directed to male or female! Perhaps you are thinking on some other lines? Please explain?

We always say don't be such a sour puss, or don't be a jealous puss, and we say it to both male and female. And means nothing else!
I am surprised you haven't heard the expression before really?

Originally posted by PocketKingsI think the "puss" refers to the mouth, but I am not sure, or never really thought about it, You would just say: "Oh don't be such a sour puss" or don't be such a "Jealous Puss"

Not having anything to do with the house cat, who you might call a "Pussy cat"!
Different country different expressions I guess, then you can have different expressions within a country. 🙂
What comes to mind is "Spanky" I always think that it means spanking someone , but I am sure it has some kind a meaning somewhere. 😉

My slang repertoire is still quite limited, even though I have learned quite a bit on TFC.
Originally posted by Very RustyThanks for explaining. I don't hear much English, and it may not be that common in written language.
