i relised a wee while ago what one of my worst fears is. death. although not my own, i mean having to make decisions about other peoples deaths. for instance, you're being held hostage with other and the captor tells me that someone's going to die and i've got to choose whome. or i don't do something and as a consequence someone dies (much like that drama that was on TV a while ago with the guy on the underground who goes mad because he could have stopped a girl being raped). i just don't think i could live with it...

so, this got me wondering - could you kill someone if you were forced to? someone tells you you have to pull the trigger or you die as well as that person. could you do it?

who would you die for? really? a random stranger on the street? i doubt i would, sad though that thought may be...

and the twisted one-could you kill an innocent person unprevoked if you knew that doing so would 100, 200 other innocent people whome you have never met?

i think i think to much...

I rather die than intentionally kill someone else.

I would give my life in a heartbeat to save my children.

I would never want the death of another human being on my conscious.

With that said, I would kill anyone who harmed my children.

but what if they were going to die anyway, and you killing that person would save your life?

assisted suicide is something I would do - if I was satisfied that is what they really wanted

I rather die than intentionally kill someone else,so on one hand you say no on the other you say yes, assisted suicide is also taking someone's life is it not?

I would do a mercy killing. I don't think I could handle stabbing someone, but I could shoot someone if I had to.

Last week on stag weekend in Lithuania I went to shooting range. We had the chance to fire AK47's, clocks and other handguns. The targets were pictures on people at the other end.

I couldn't even shoot a picture of a person. Not because I was a crap shot but because I felt physically sick at the thought of firing a gun.

(I can my assisted suicide morality conflicts with my general ability not wanting to kill someone whatever the circumstance)

If someone raped my daughter I don't think I could kill them.

I could. With my bare hands. And no guilt whatsoever.

help me out here then.... inviggors...

you could intentionally end someones life because they wanted you to,but you couldnt kill someone if you had to? not too sure I am following you on that bud! You couldnt kill someone that harmed your daughter because its morally wrong .... afraid if that was my child i feel sure that going out irradicating a pervert making sure that person never did anything to anybody elses child would be on the top of my list of things to do...

I`m pretty sure if I had children and someone raped a daughter of mine, that perosn wouldn`t be living very long. I would find a way to kill that person no questions, don`t pass go don`t go jail thanks for playing.

Well I have some experience of the issue as my father in law is not a nice man. He has hurt my wife and others systematically over a long period of time. Now I see it as my duty to protect my wife and daughter from him. I do not see it as my duty to hurt him back (even though the fanatasy has crossed my mind many times). I would like to tell the police about him but it would be too painful for my wife and my mother in law.

Sometimes the world is not perfect and you must put a lid on your emotions and try to avoid conflict - in order to keep the ones you love physically and emotionally safe.

There are more lives at stake than just yours and the pertpetrators.

you just hit the nail on the head there invigorate.... your quote"There are more lives at stake than just yours and the pertpetrators." the peoples lives at stake are innocent children for example look at the james bulger case... look at the news how many rapists, child molestors have been released from prison to yet re-offend and commit even worse atrocities than previous...i was looking at a news report from the states about some bloke who has been found with a young girl he kidnapped... he has already bludgeoned the mother, her boyfriend and the younger brother is "missing".... explain how you wouldnt want to kill the sob that committed that if it was your family involved...

"Forced to"? Hell, I'll kill anyone who messes with me. Just let me know where you live! 😲

I think I would do it, even if they said "pull the trigger or you die and he lives".

I would probably be a wreck psychologically after that, but if he was a stranger then I have to admit I value my own life more than I value his.

I would probably die for some people who are dear to me, though, if I was in the same situation. But that's what I think NOW, hope it would be the same with a gun pointing at my head.
