When is it appropriate to take a skull? When is it not appropriate?
My view: if my opponent sends me a rated game (wether it is a supposed “friendly” game or not), and the skull appears, it gets crushed.
If one doesn't want one’s delicate cranium stamped into the dirt then don’t send rated games for “friendlies”.
Thoughts?
@divegeester saidI took my first skulls in a six player tournament. It was an easy decision because another player had done it so I wasn't going to have a disadvantage.

I then decided I would just hit the skull for any 1 day timeout 0 timebank game. After all it was what they signed up for. Progressed in a two player tournament round that way, but actually I was left with the feeling that it was a bit tainted by not knowing if I could have won.
Problem with the friendly scenario is that it won't feel great if you later find out they had a good reason.
In tournaments some see the skulls before others due to time zone/insomnia. Maybe automatic time out levels the playing field in that scenario. No rewards for insomnia!
@divegeester saidI don't get why this post has 2 red thumbs - a good question.

Friendlies (which every game is rated, no exception) = Skull, I have verbal's.
Club = No Skull, honor, I have verbal's.
Clan = Skull.
Tournament = Skull.

@divegeester saidI believe when they sign up for said tournament or challenge they know the time controls. We have all talked about this in the past and have different views on it. I say take the skull especially in a Clan Challenge. In fun games it is up to the person if they want to take it or not.

There could be so many reasons as why someone timed out such as being in Hospital, internet issues, only we have no way of knowing this. In 3/7 games you have 10 days before you will get timed out. unless one is in pretty bad shape should be able to get a vacation flag up.
I recently asked a similiar question about taking skulls during the Pandemic.
I don't see a reason for the thumbs down as I believe it was a good question and makes for good conversation getting people's views on it.
