It's strange how people can change their life around, exhibit great personal strength to overcome adversity and addiction, and then give credit to some kooky cult instead of the people that really deserve it - themselves.
Defeat in the first tries can lead to giving up at one point or another. These cults give people a reason to try again. In the end, entering the cult WAS the turning point of their lives. They just assume the wrong reasons on why that was.
The human heart pumps and circulates blood to distribute
oxygen, nutients, etc. The thinking compartment of the brain
in rational creatures performs a similar (kardia) function.
If it lacks accurate facts it will process hearsay, scuttlebutt
and rumor. To the extent that it lacks truth, it will involuntarily
suck in falsehood... even if the result is blackout of the soul.
Nature abhors a vacuum. Dendrite branches must transmit.
