Test your ear using this test:
http://www.jakemandell.com/tonedeaf/
Find out if you really are tone deaf or not.
Apparently it's supposed to be quite tough.
I got 75% but I wasn't concentrating that much because I was rushing through it at work.
Edit: Some advice for others who want to take the test: Don't click before the music is over, even if you already know it was different. That will start the next phrase right away, and at least for me, having it start in the middle of a different phrase makes it much more difficult to remember it correctly.

I'm sure I could have got 80% if I'd concentrated more.
Originally posted by VargI could probably have got over 90% if I had concentrated more, if I wouldn't have had to adjust the volume in the middle of one phrase which was louder than the others, and if I had always waited with clicking the answer until I was prepared for the next phrase.

I doubt I heard anything wrong except in the pitch test, some of the excerpts just were too long to remember correctly.
I got 0.9 hz on the pitch test (I was down to 0.18 hz or something like that at some point, but messed it up). Only 60% on the rhythm test. 😳
Originally posted by Nordlysyea, but as the quote says, musical memory is not an issue with hearing the melodies correctly. in fact, to further test the signifigance of memory, I'll do the test again. now I'll have heard all the excerpts twice with a couple of hours apart, so memory lapses should decrease. tonal differences that I can't spot however should remain. lets see how it goes:

94.4%, that's 2 wrong out of 36 melodies.
