Tone Of Conversation Symbols

TOCS

I've always thought a lot of meaning and mostly humor is lost when reading posts because people can't hear the tone.

Perhaps this site could develop its own TOCS so people will understand the tone and meaning behind certain posts, which would make the posts funnier or just help others to understand the posts better.

The best part is the users get to pick the symbols and eventually it becomes second nature when posting.

Once completed, a Legend/List could be placed within the site.

lol

this is a passive aggressive post meant to belittle and intimidate whilst seemingly upbeat and funny

So what is the symbol that lets us know that?

I'll lead by an example.

Accents are hard to do because the people reading don't hear it so...

Sorry guv'na, they noggins ain't equipped for this kind of thought, Bacc

The Bacc would mean B for British and acc for accent.
On the TOCS List it would say Bacc means British accent.

Learning a simple extra few text "symbols" would make posts funnier, but if people just want to go back to a word thingy thread, by all means, go ahead.

@ghost-of-a-duke I must break you.

People read that, and most people are clueless.

If I put...

@ghost-of-duke I must break you. Racc

People see it's said with a Russian accent and they see it's the Rocky 4 quote.

The TOCS list would have Racc means Russian accent.

Sarcasm is another one that people have a hard time understanding.

They take the post literally when an actual joke was implied but misunderstood.

If their was a sarcasm "symbol" then people would understand instantly.

Except for new people who haven't read the TOCS list.

I get your point but I wonder if you’re massively overthinking this.

E.G.

Draco Malfoy?

True.

First, it's Drago with a g, Ivan Drago Rocky IV

Show some respect. Dolph Lundgren has more PhDs than the amount of times you've eaten Marmite.
Look it up

I'll let this go but when some easy joke goes over someone's head...I'll be

Why would the number of times @diver has eaten Marmite be posted online?

Now I'm even more paranoid.

Either way, the Ghost is unbreakable.

I have eaten Marmite at least a few dozen times.

And I did find that he has a Master in Chemical Engineering and there is a source telling he has two "degrees" from MIT, but Ididn't find a record on PhD's.
