I dorked up my foot once, that is close to the knee. 😛
I just took loads of glucosamine and after about a year, it was mostly all better.
Originally posted by Kevin McfarlandI had an accident and tore my left one. At the time I was 39 and the doc said that after 40 it is sort of the law of deminishing returns in terms of having a good comeback. I decided that I better get it done. At the time , he used a piece of my patella ligament, but I think they use part of semitendinosis (one of the hamstring muscles). The physical therapy was very tough. It will be months before you are back to normal. The younger you are the better. After surgery you will want to take precautions to stabilize your knee and not do anything stupid like play soccer or basketball for the next year. I know a young high school student who has already blown her acl twice. She will have a lot of knee problems the older she gets. Good luck.
