Tourney Game ID 86400

Not sure if John's already posted this, can't see it anywhere and not
sure if the Captains know...

vaknso - T1000 0 - 1

'twas an honour to play John in the tournament. Really enjoyed the
games despite me taking aaaages to make the first couple of moves.
Felt a strange but healthy pressure of actually playing for a team
rather than oneself! Once I'd made a few mistakes though it felt like
normal again!

John, I hope I'm privileged to play you again sometime :o)

Thanks Dave....it's appreciated coming from a top guy like yourself.

Are there any concrete plans about the next tourney or are we going
to give this one some more time first? I think there's several games
with a way to go non?

Nothing concrete...heard a few ideas kicked around...a knockout
swiss...a top five from each country...and a few other deals...we will
look more into it once more of the games have been finished of the
present one.

What is a knockout swiss?

It would be a good idea to keep in mind that many of us aren't very
experienced with the various types of tournaments that are possible,
so it would be helpful to give some sort of description of how they all
work.

Ok...well it exactly wouldn't be a swiss...but more of a real knockout
tourney.

We would take people in classes.

1300's against 1300's..1400's against 1400's..etc

2 games...1 black one white...just like now..but the thing is is that the
winners from the games would eliminate their opponent and go on to
play another winner untill there is only one person left in that
class...and then we would take all the winners from these groups and
then play a REAL Swiss tourney in which you try to get the most points
you can but if you lose you are not knocked out...just play another
person who loses and from all of that we would have a real list of the
top tourney players here.

I hope all of that made some sense.

It sounds interesting, but also sounds like it could take quite a while
to get through it.

Your welcome Marc...it would take a long time I know...but it would
also get alot more people involved due to the fact that right off the
bat they know they have a shot at winning their rating class and being
the champion of that section...and trust me...not neccessarily would a
top player win in the end...I have had my ass handed to me by quite
a few lower rated players.

We can do all kind of things when we play real time play.

But I think so far that idea has gotten some positive response...we
might have to tweak the edges of it to make it totally right but I think
it would be alot of fun...although it would take awhile to finish.
