Would you just walk up to someone in a park, pub or cafe and without a word just sit in front of them, set up a board (with you as white, I bet 😉 ) and make your move ?
So in your scenario, you would go into a pub sit down at an empty table, set the board up, numpty comes along and sits down, plays one move and legs it while you're getting the drinks in.
I've got no problem with them deleting games they start themselves but when they have got it from my open invites, I consider that as accepting to play the game.
Originally posted by huckleberryhoundI do the same. The least they can do is reply and say "good luck".
If someone challenges me, i usually make the first move and say "good luck". If i dont get a response, i delete it. Theres no rule saying i have to play rude people if they challenge me.
Some players get funny about you wishing them luck though, but it's just a way of greeting them.
I have posted before about people who just delete games after a couple of moves with no message and no apparent reason.
The most annoying thing though, is players who accept your invite regardless of your requirements to play opponents with a specific rating or who disregard the fact you've clearly stated you want to play a fast game. They accept the invite, play one or two moves then only come back to the game 3 days later...
Originally posted by FrenchQueenare you getting annoyed at others because you don't know how to apply a rating limit to your invites/challenges? the option exists, you know.

also, if playing within the correspondence chess time controls is not 'fast enough' for you, what are you doing on a correspondence chess website anyway?
try uchess, FICS, ICC, playchess etc. if you want a fast game.

I know how to apply a rating limit to my invites, thank you very much. (I joined this site before you did)
What's wrong with creating an open invite with specific requirements and expecting only suitable opponents to accept it? Can't people read?
Sometimes I want a fast game, sometimes I don't. I can ask specifically to play a fast game from time to time, and that's something I state in my invite.
