AVG free is the cheapest... and probably the best, (certainly one of the best) options.

Kaspersky internet protection suite.

Hands down the #1 rated antivirus/spyware/adware/firewall/email protection on the market,

DOn't just take my word on it, lok it up and compare it to every other antivirus program out there. It is always placing as top 3 in every major test given in finding, removing, and preventing viruses from ever entering your computer.

The only 100% guaranteed way of getting rid of viruses and avoiding
new ones to invade it's to grab a hammer and crush down to sand
grains the computer.

Guaranteed.

That depends where you live. had Kaspersky for my first 6 months in China. I was constantly getting trojans and virus it didn't recognise and couldn't remove. I changed to AVG and have only ever had 1 - it recognised but couldn't kill - but it did vault it! I pay for AVG though for continual auto updates - not the free version.

Try out a few offerings, especially the free ones like Grisoft's AVG. It has always worked for me, but then again, I haven't even seen a virus in about 5 years...

For now you might use one of the online scanners, they have worked for people I know.
housecall.trendmicro.com/
www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
After doing the online scan, remember to install a virus application, whichever one you choose, running a scan at least once a month - Make sure you install something that can at least scan mail messages.

Then get yourself a firewall application like ZoneAlarm (www.zonealarm.com) and even a anti-malware/spyware tool, if you download and install many apps you get off the Internet.

While we're at it, get yourself FireFox and Thunderbird for browsing and email and install NoScript and AdBlock Plus add-ons for FireFox.

try the f-secure online scanner. works like a charm.

http://www.f-secure.com/security_center/

although if you have a slow connection, it might take a while to load the program, it's a bit heavy.

another great way is to take a newborn baby boy, and dip it into the river styx. in time he will develop a homosexual lust for the trojan, and murder it in a jealous fit.

I've only had bad experiences with norton. it leaves stuff undetected, won't remove all of those it did detect, and randomly conflicts with all kinds of software. - I've never had any of those problems with f-secure...

Memory intensive... and not even great for that... just take a look at all the sites dedicated to removing Norton.. it tells you something.

NOD32 is easily the greatest antivirus, whats more it contains anti spyware, anti spam and firewall too along with a months free trial. If you don't want to pay for one get AVG which is a reasonable free program. For trojan removal, I also use A - Squared and Counterspy. For general spyware - adaware and Spybot.

I do. I use it on my laptop. One of the things I like is that it comes with a 250gig online hard drive backup.

Just tie the Trojan in a knot, and throw it away. 😕

Edit: Take it off first. 😕
