Trouble eating pineapple?

General

My wife has just told me that the itchygob problem is more severe the riper the pineapple is.

...but not immediately, right? If you stop after a few chunks, no pain?
Yup. It's only temporary, except for an occasional end-of-tongue one which can stick around for days.
But I live where I can only get the rough-leaf kind with the small top stalk. When i visit the region where the smooth-leaf variety grows I can pig out, because its acid level is much lower. Pity it doesn’t store or travel well.

Yes, that’s the point; I can eat it only if it’s ripened on the tree, not in transit.

Feel free to expand this to other food-related tribulations.
Not quite a fruit of the sea but … Dover sole.
What a palaver to prepare this fish with high risk of a stab a hand.
Or choking from fish bones 🙁
