First off...we have now four people over 1800!!!

Second thing is that Peter Leko basically only needs a draw against
Topalov to play Kramnik for the Championship...he is up 2 - 0

Nice work! I knew you'd bring us some (much needed) points. We
may be getting spanked, but at least we're going out fighting. How
many games remain unfinished, any idea?

As captain, tell us when it is "over." I'm not sure if you want "over" to
be when it is impossible for us to win or when the last game is
completed. Either way I would like to bring some closure to this great
event with a benediction for it. Kirk, Tournement Rev.

Definetly will kirk. I am sure it will be as eloquent as the opening one
you gave.

Let's not say the tourney is over till all the games are over. If I remember, the main goal of the
tournament was and is to have fun and make new friends, coupled with a little friendly competition.
In that spirit, the last games finished will be as important as the first games played, even if the
last few games can't change which team is the over all winner.

The fat lady is Brunnhilde in Wagner's "SIEGFRIED".
That is where it comes from.
By 11.30 Siegfried makes it up the mountain top, right through the
inpenetrable fire.He finds Brunnhilde and removes the breastplate
from the almost amplitudinous body of the Wagnerian soprano who
sleeps under it.
What he says, with gargantuan understatement,is,Das ist kein Mann
(That is no man)
Anyway,at about 11.40,Brunnhilde starts to sing.Vocally, she's fresh as
a daisy.Siegfried,Who's been singing non stop since seven, must join
in for a final love duet of Promethean difficulty, which ends, along with
the opera,at 12.20.

Hummmmmmm!! I think "It's not over till the fat lady sings". Has
been with us since before 1990. Any other opinions here?

To partly agree with Lyn, It does sound like it is opera based in origin.
