I don't know enough to contribute here. I did not know that Andrew was William's uncle.
I thought they were brothers. ๐Ÿ˜• I'll be in my office.
Andrew is the third child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. He is brother to King Charles, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward.

William and Harry are brothers.

I’ve always admired Princess Anne. She’s often photographed in a headscarf & wellies, rarely in designer suits & dresses. A great horsewoman and a hard worker. Her daughter Zara won a silver medal in an equestrian event at the 2012 Olympics.

I have a question concerning The Royals. Why is Camilla called “Queen”, when Philip was not called “King”?๐Ÿค”

Camilla is a queen married to a king. Philip wasn't the king, being married to queen Elizabeth didn't make him one.

Queen Elizabeth II's wish: In a 2022 Platinum Jubilee message, Queen Elizabeth II stated it was her "sincere wish" for Camilla to be known as Queen Consort when Charles became king. This removed any potential barrier to the title.

On November 20th 1947, King George VI issued Letters Patent making his soon to be son in law the Duke of Edinburgh. King George VI created the new dukedom just hours before the marriage of his elder daughter, Princess Elizabeth, to Philip Mountbatten.

I’m thinking that it’s too hard for a reigning king to allow any decision to make a non royal male a king for fear that He may, at some time, try to reign in place on any rightful Royal prince or princess heir to the throne? Men can be a bit like that sometimes ๐Ÿ™‚

When the Swedish Crown Princess Victoria succeeds her father King Carl XVI Gustaf, her husband will still be Prince Daniel.

Prince Andrew is now just “Andrew”. But why and who effectively did it? Imo it was Prince William the heir to the throne. Clearly Will loathes his uncle Andy because Will knows it all. I think William will be a big reformer of the Monarchy, and I think it is needed and will be welcomed.

I don't want to hit this too hard, but I wonder if anyone has given some thought to disbanding these royal family's altogether, selling the crown jewels, royal palaces, and lands, taking that money and using it for the good of the common people i.e. transportation projects, infrastructure, energy projects etc. Then - Insisting these people do something useful instead of just posing for photo's

Definitely some people have been having those thoughts, and sharing them for quite some time.

My feeling is that the UK Monarchy can be divided into two (relatively recent) periods: the time before the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and the time afterwards.

I would say they are good ambassadors, they do a good job, they unite. I can't see we would be better off any other way, I can only see chaos if that should happen.

Referring to my post you are replying to; I’d say I’d agree with you pre QE2’s death. Not so much now.

Only two people matter imo, that’s the Monarch and their spouse. The rest of them are nothings. Again, just my opinion.

You live there and see things clearly and I partly agree about their extended families. Maybe with William and Kate things will change, traditions broken and replaced. Countries like England, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Holland are still good places to be in.

Edit: I believe Elizabeth II (and Elizabeth I) were extraordinary women whose like we will not see again.

I would survive without Edward.

Philip was very much of royal blood. Both on his father’s and his mother’s side.

Certainly not an easy role to play, being n-th in line to the throne.
