In a game recently with the hero that is Ross Green he (being
Australian) was talking with me about television, specifically what
Australian television gets shown here in the UK and what we (the UK)
export to Oz. We also talked about some of the US shows.

Just out of interest, to those in countries other than the UK, do you
get any UK television? If so, what programmes do you get? If there
are any comedy ones then do you like the comedy contained therein?
Is comedy the same the world over or is there a "UK" kind?

Two of my favourite programmes come from America, namely The
West Wing and Six Feet Under (also am rather partial to The
Sopranos and The Simpsons).

Yes, Mark, we get reruns of those two fat ladies cooking. Does that
qualify as comedy? Kirk

Two Fat Ladies was superb. I loved it. They were hilarious. Sadly one
of them passed away probably about a year ago. Don't much like the
TV chefs we're left with nowadays. Where's Delia when you need her?

I'm guessing you don't get Delia Smith in America?

I used to watch the Two Fat ladies. They could really cook. Loved the
show. I gained weight just watching them.

I never knew that the Two Fat Ladies were such international stars!
They had that motorbike and sidecar thing going on. Sheer class.

No Delia Smith fans in America then? :o(

Delia Smith is a middle aged lady with very tidy hair and a very nice
naturally lit kitchen. She speaks very correctly. She goes on television
and tells people how to boil an egg and cook toast properly. She is a
godsend for people like me.

She has been doing this (well, way more complex stuff usually)
forever, she was teaching single-celled amoeba how it was absolutely
necessary to buy the correct sized cake tin otherwise there'll be tears.
She gave culinary advice to the dinosaurs. They didn't take it so they
died out. Not a lot of people know that.

Was she ever NOT middle aged?

I have always very secretly (and very worryingly) been kind of
attracted to her. It's kind of like fancying your own mother...but worse.

fancying Delia...? I'm sure I've done worse, but...

You're right though; she was middle aged when I was 10 and she still
looks the same - creapy

Just for future reference if anytime she should pop up and you're
unsure check my profile. In this picture she's really let herself go and
put on a fair bit of make up and done something to her hair.

"Do you think she's a friend to squirrels"

Lol! Now you're talking to me like I'm deranged or that I have the IQ
of a 4 year old (it's 6 so there) and that Delia and the squirrels and
me live in a happy land called Sunshine Village where there are no
taxes and free nuts are plentiful and Delia cooks for us all as we live
under the same roof, that roof being the canopy of the trees.

No illegal drugs or hallucinogens were consumed either prior or during
this post. I feel it necessary to state this.

Mark.

Did you not know? You must have heard ? About the seedy world of D
and the squirrels, the sheer filth of what goes on ? Mark, I have
known you for some time and so can tell you this.

You know how it is public knowledge that Delia likes, no in fact, loves
squirrels. Of course you do, its in the press on regular occasions. But
do you know what she really likes about squirrels ?

TO COOK THEM ...

Yes, a sprinkle of Basil, some stuffing and a light white wine cream
sauce; and then the roasted squirrel is perfect for consumption. Delia
does in fact masticate with squirrels, she chews them all up.

I'm so sorry Mark, I thought you knew ... you must have known...
please tell me you did ??!?!?

We get Fawlty Towers here in Florida on the weekends. It as an
absolutely great show and still one of the funniest around, John
Cleese is a comic genius. We used to get reruns of Absolutely
Fabulous too, also a really funny show, i really enjoy the British
comedy shows we get here in the States.
