Does anyone happen to remember when I changed my name to Arkturos?

(I tried today, but it's too early.)

I don't want to bother Russ about it.

I'm thinking of going back to "Kevin Eleven" and maybe just sticking with that.

Thoughts, objections, proposals?

You've done enough changes already. Stop tinkering!

Hmm. Thank you for your comment. I myself don't quite like "Arkturos" -- it's not as if I'm herding bears, for instance. But I also have a close relative who is even more adverse to change than I might be.

And maybe "Kevin Eleven" isn't quite right, either, because that might play into the "Kevin" is the male version of a "Karen" if you know what I mean.

My first username ("Caesar Salad"😉 didn't go over so well, even though I thought it was a clever name for a chess site -- in fact, it became the target of mockery even though I thought it was already self-undermining.

Well, Kewpie, I'll keep your objection in mind, even if any other comments (unlikely) happen to be posted.

@Arkturos
Why the need to keep changing user name?

I guess I'm just shifty and indeterminate like that.

I just spotted a username I like, might take it on myself - not here of course.

@Arkturos

change it back. Even Caesar's Salad is better than Arkturos.

Kevin,
My old friend, I've already told you to stop concerning yourself about what others think and just do what you want to do, within reason of course and not breaking any site rules. There is no possible way you can please everyone, so why even bother trying?

Like the lyrics in The Cranberries song, Ode To My Family…”does anyone care?”.🤔😁

i think either "gozer the gozerian" or the "stay puft marshmallow man" would suit you
either way
"toasted chick" would also be nice
"dr venkman" works

i was doing a bit of internet perusing and the notion occured to me that all you really need is a title to enhance yer personal perspective of yer perspicaciousness

@Dr-ArkturosPhDMLBNFLAFL

would be a lofty perch from which to perceive yer domain

For what it might be worth, I always thought “Kevin Eleven” had a certain … Je ne sais quoi to it. Caesar Salad, much less so.

It reminded me of those iconic 7-Eleven stores and that in turn reminded me of Michael Fox’s famous response to the sideshow guy asking him “where’d you learn to shoot like that”?

Kevin 11 was an electoral slogan 14 years ago. He'd won with Kevin 07 but this time he didn't get elected.

Perhaps it could be said that "I" care! 😉

A fair point, but it hasn't needed much self-reflection for me to observe that I'm a rather sensitive and highly reactive guy who never even liked going on job interviews, so to endure years of study not to mention interactions with faculty members who never left school, and then the dissertation-defense interrogations (except for the degrees one can purchase online) -- it would really be too much for me. Plus, the poet in me tends toward reduction more than expansion.*
