@Martin saidAnother reply is that for a poet or writer (who doesn't actually write much), a username can easily grow stale or start to seem overly determinate or suggestive of this or that, whereas I'd prefer to have something memorable yet vague.
@Arkturos
Why the need to keep changing user name?
On a tangent, nobody has any idea what mental struggles I might go through to come up with a suitable pen name for short stories or novels.
@Arkturos saidyou write a lot of words just say, "no thanks"
A fair point, but it hasn't needed much self-reflection for me to observe that I'm a rather sensitive and highly reactive guy who never even liked going on job interviews, so to endure years of study not to mention interactions with faculty members who never left school, and then the dissertation-defense interrogations (except for the degrees one can purchase online) -- it w ...[text shortened]... ase for the hoarder in me, nor the (at times multi-clausal and some might say digressive) prosodist.

@Very-Rusty saidThank you and understood, but when it comes to the username it's more a matter of my considering whether it's a username I could live with long-term -- it's really not as if I intend to change my username every year (or according to the tides of public opinion).
Kevin,
My old friend, I've already told you to stop concerning yourself about what others think and just do what you want to do, within reason of course and not breaking any site rules. There is no possible way you can please everyone, so why even bother trying?

It might surprise some to learn that on other forums I have picked usernames appropriate to those sites and haven't changed them since.
So, in short: this is really just to please myself.
@Earl-of-Trumps saidThank you, Earl.
@Arkturos
change it back. Even Caesar's Salad is better than Arkturos.

@diver saidThank you, and thank you for the movie clip.
For what it might be worth, I always thought “Kevin Eleven” had a certain … Je ne sais quoi to it. Caesar Salad, much less so.
It reminded me of those iconic 7-Eleven stores and that in turn reminded me of Michael Fox’s famous response to the sideshow guy asking him “where’d you learn to shoot like that”?
Back To The Future Part III

I'm pretty sure I'll go back to "Kevin Eleven" next time around and stick with that.
As you and maybe some others might know, reportedly it was the wife of the 7-11 founder who suggested that the final "n" be lower-case, so that the logo would be rounded off and softened visually (given that the other letters were more angular).
It might surprise some to learn that I haven't seen the "Back to the Future" movies, nor have I watched "Stranger Things" and that I really didn't have "Spinal Tap" in mind, either.
@Great-Big-Stees saidMaybe not, but many decades ago some writers would have earned a penny a word (or more!) for the quality prose that I offer for free.
Like the lyrics in The Cranberries song, Ode To My Family…”does anyone care?”.🤔😁

@Arkturos saidThe Back To The Future trilogy is a landmark of great movie making and story telling. I highly recommend a viewing.

Spinal Tap also, but for entirely different reasons.

I asked some time ago if I could change my name and Russ wouldn't allow it. Said I would lose all my stats. Now it is done on a regular bases. I am just going to stick with Very Rusty as everyone that has been around here for 18 or 19 years or longer know who Very Rusty is and how disagreeing he can be at times. 😉
EDIT: I really don't think anyone is concerned if you change your name or not, or care for that matter. Same goes for me.!!! I could change it to Ghost Killer and the only one who may say something would be Ghost, thinking it was all about him. 😉
