They just said they was going on long vacation, no issue as i enjoy playing. just wondered why put it then carry on playing

depends what the reasons in the flag are....i had net problems but moved every few days but some people do say they are away and move maybe it is to stop people timing them out but if you read what they write first then you will see the problem

How come people put vacation flag up and yet start new games ?!?! of course if i was playing a player and the flag goes up i respect that. just wondering if it is to stop people timing them out.
Any thoughts ? 🙄 as very puzzled
Vacation flags are a psychological tool, used by players to wind up their opponents. If you put up a vacation flag, then let your games go to within a few minutes of the timeout before moving, it doesn't half p;ss off the other player. Sometimes, you can add more enjoyment to this device by actually letting your timebank dwindle to a few minutes, and then make a move at the last but one moment... It is also especially effective if you keep playing all your other games (against your mates, for example, and other players you respect, etc.), and you're just letting the time go by with that one particular player (in my case it's usually the non-subs who have challenged me, so it serves them right...).
Of course, ideally, when you set up the game, you should make it a 28/28 game.
