VACATION OPTION MUST BE BY AGGREEMENT BEFORE THE GAME
COMMENCES!!!!! if arguement isnt bad enough over timeouts!!! CAN
you just imagine the upset that it would cause if a player who was
about to LOSE 20-30 games just went on "VACATION" FOR 21 DAYS!!
thus leaving 20-30 rhp members anxiously awaiting
their "CHECKMATE" move. TAKEN to the extreme!! the vacation option
would benifit all "LOSERS" AND ................. all "WINNERS" this cannot
be allowed!! THE ONLY WAY TO AVOID MAJOR UPSET!! IS TO HAVE THE
OPTION AGREED TO BEFORE THE GAME COMMENCES!!! i believe that
this issue needs alot of DEBATE.!!!
Stevens,
As I have stated before, I'm positive RHP would ONLY permit a
vacation option if agreed to at the start of a game.
Now as to some players prolonging their doom, well, a vacation can be
limited to a set number of weeks within a year, and should it become
obvious a player is simply using a vacation period to avoid a loss
against an opponent while playing other games, then the game could
be adjudicated by RHP, and the offender reprimanded for the
behavior and informed that his playing privileges may be lost should
such tactics occur again.
Please, let's trust RHP to handle a vacation option appropriately. I
have no doubt that they will do their best.
I think that stevens has raised many valid concerns here. Everyone
has experienced games in which a player who gets behind goes from
making several moves a day to one move every two or three days. If
we add to the timeout option a ‘vacation option’ as well I believe that
we will see this abused as well. Most vacations are scheduled events.
You know when you start a game if you are about to go on vacation.
The obvious is don’t start games that you can’t finish within the
agreed upon timeout limit.
This option might be useful in case of sickness or a death in the
family or some unscheduled absence but I think there would be more
abuse of this option than legitimate use. No system is perfect but I
think the current one is the best. If you have a legitimate need to go
beyond the agreed upon timeout then let your opponent know. If they
claim a win anyway, then you can choose not to play that individual
again.

Goodnight, I'm in total agreemwnt with you. I'm fortunate. I've never
had a timeout claimed on me. I play everyday. Should I get sick or
cant play and lose to a timeout; No big deal. I don't make my living
here. I play to have fun. John. By the way "Most Active Player" since
Dec 31, 2001.. :-) Just had to add that in case rhymester reads this
post.
