One player (at least) is playing games even thought he vacation flag is showing. Usual excuse peddled is 'I forgot'. Mmm, well maybe. I suggest that if a player moves when showing a vacation flag the game should be forfeited.
Do you not think it is better to make a move with a vacation flag on ,than not at all?
i would prefer any of my players to do so anyway.

I'd put the flag on because I couldn't guarantee to find the time or opportunity to make any moves, but as it happened I did. I fail to see how this is any sort of offence, let along a game forfeiting one.

Some people do use it "wrongly".
In a tournament I was playing in a while back, one of my opponents put on his vacation flag, but kept on moving once or twice a week. This kept going on for about two weeks and I when I checked his profile, saw that he had something like 150+ games going - obviously using the little plane to dicourage people from timing him out.
If you overload yourself with games and can't make the time, it's not right using the vacation setting to dupe people into not timing you out.

I may make a separate thread of this but just to let anyone know who is playing douglasmurray, he's on holiday but appears to have forgotten to set himself on vacation-I know he was going up into the mountains with no net access 🙁
Originally posted by richhoeyI think he is pointing out that the vacation flag is open to abuse. I personally don't time people out when their flag is up, but that doesn't mean im not tempted. It seems the only people i play who use it are generally loosing (though i haven't been here that long).

I do think that 80 days is perhaps too much time a year. I have been playing a tourni, and one of my opponents has been on vacation 3 times since the game started. just a thought 😉
