Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry
Let's agree that we're all different in matters of personal taste and style. Let's also agree that we're all unique individuals who see the world around us through a different lens and from different windows. So we have a level playing field for everyone who cares to follow and/or participate in this conversation. Here's the odd behavioral pattern that's still somewhat confusing: Please help me understand why some intelligent and savvy people who tenaciously adhere to specific beliefs, values and opinions are often quick to deny others with totally different sets of geography and background precisely the same privileges they themselves enjoy.
Is it possible that in toddlerhood they aquired an early taste for hot dogs, fishsticks and candy and a vehement aversion to fruits and veggies? Did they happen to inherit a set of permissive parents or grandparents who overindulged their fledgling tastes and coddled their precious little points of view excessively? In the schoolyard did these narrow minded children who liked only vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream retreat to the nearest corner to pout or throw tantrums whenever another child tried to chime in with his or her two cents worth ..."Well vanilla, chocolate and strawberry are okay but I really like peppermint stick, buttercrunch and coffee ice cream". If not early conditioning, then whatever was it that did happen to these 'my size should fit all' human beings who became so easily threatened later on in life on their way to the public forum of ideas? Any and all points of view warmly welcomed. Thanks.

I don't have time to summarise today unfortunately, but this boils down to group dynamics, specifically ingroup/outgroup differences.
You can get an overview here - pay particular attention to Tajfel's minimal group paradigm:

Tajfel is but one experimentalist. Try checking out Philip Zimbardo or tangentially, Stanley Milgram's work to get some more on denying the rights of free expression to others.

would the "denying the rights of free expression to others" thingy include the ripping of a cheerful harvest festival/holiday???
if you think that because folks can differ with yer point of view on this forum and elsewhere that you are NOT denying them free expression, then pray tell where it iz anywhere on this forum, or elsewhere, that you feel your OWN rights of free expression have been denied...
if i've missed the gag insertion, please allow me to apologize right here and now...
part two:
yer quote, "Reminiscent of indiscriminate 'Thumbs Up' to friends.
are you curious as to why you seem to have a more difficult time integrating int the forum???
i'll ask these rhetorical questions three...
do you know the names of those who "thumb up" or "thumb down" any given post???
how do you know they are "friends" (HA!!!) with the posters they are "thumbing"???
how iz it you can know, intimately!!!, the thought processes of the itinerant "thumber"???
the answers, to me, are obvious, and iz a "no" to each...
the reason you seem to have a difficult time is you intentionally make passive aggressive, blanket statements such az this, treating folks who haven't had a dang bit interaction, like dirt...
while pretending to be an innocent friend...
this iz trolling, bob...
and,
social psychology IZ yer bag, you practice yer craft every day, right here...
and now i am weary of this...
we've talked, you and me, in private and in public and in game...
i am going to leave you alone for a long time...

Some untethered free spirits you can actually get to know; cultivate lasting genuine friendships built upon candor and honesty, mutual respect and loyalty.

I saw your title.
Next, I saw you posted something long winded.
Next, I cut to the chase in a thread.
What makes you conclude I read your post or whatever you're deducting here?
