Just do a Google search on "History of CocaCola". It was originally marketed as a tonic and also contained extractof the Kola nut which was high in caffeine. You have to remember that this was when cocaine was still legal in the US. It was available at any pharmacy or through mail order. Some wines even contained cocaine.
